Are those values, beliefs and attitudes held to protect us or hinder us? Are they fortresses or prisons?
The thought came to my attention one day as I was reading scripture.
"And they were prepared that they could cast stones from the top thereof, according to their pleasure and their strength, and slay him who should attempt to approach near the walls of the city." Alma 50:5
"Now is the time to do it, while the Lord is blessing us with peace because of our obedience to him, he told his people, "Let us build and fortify cities now, with walls, towers, gates and bars." II Chronicles 14, 7-8
Recently I have been thrown into the wilderness.
I am in new territory.
I have values, beliefs and attitudes that are being challenged.
How do I know which values, attitudes and beliefs to hang on to and which ones to let go of?
Are they prisons or fortresses?
Gathering stones.
They gathered stones so they could throw them at their enemies.
If you claim to be a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, where is your proof?
How do you know that he is real?
What is your testimony?
Gaining a testimony is like gathering stones.
Gaining a testimony is like gathering stones.
You gain a testimony by one small experience after another.
Eventually those experiences add up and you have gathered many stones to throw at an approaching enemy.
What kind of stones do you have to throw?
Do you have them written down somewhere?
Stored in your memory somewhere?
Can you get to them if needed?
Do you know where you have them stored?
I want some feedback.
I want some feedback.
Where are you keeping your stones?
Would you throw one my way and tell me about it?
I'd love to hear your testimony.
Why do you believe what you believe?
